Prepared from the official page
Your rights include knowing your diagnosis, your treatment options, their side effects and alternatives, and filing a complaint and getting a reply. If you think a medical error harmed you, file a complaint with the Ministry of Health on the free number 937 or on the 937 digital portal; the 937 centre receives all complaints.
Steps
- You have the right to have the doctor explain your condition in a language and way you understand, with an interpreter if the doctor does not speak your language.
- You have the right to know the possible side effects of treatment and the alternatives, the procedures proposed for your case, and the reasons for any referral to another department, specialty or hospital.
- You have the right to refuse the proposed treatment within what the regulations allow, bearing the consequences after they are explained to you.
- In a private health facility, you also have the right to a free medical report, and a copy of your discharge report to make follow-up easier or to get another medical opinion.
- If you think a medical error harmed you: file a complaint with the Ministry of Health on the free number 937, on the 937 digital portal, in the Sehhaty app, or on WhatsApp at 920005937. The 937 centre receives all complaints.
- Keep the complaint number you get by text message and follow it on the 937 digital portal. If it is closed without a fix, you can reopen it within 30 days of the closing message.
Have ready:
- Your mobile number: the complaint number and updates come by text message
- The key information about your problem, such as the name of the health facility and the date of what happened; the Ministry may contact you to complete anything missing
- Signing in to the 937 digital portal through the National Single Sign-On (Nafath), if you file or follow the complaint there
