SFDA number 19999: how do I report a food or medicine problem?

Prepared from the official page

The Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) number is 19999, its unified contact centre. Its listed working hours are 7:30 am to 3:30 pm, its email is ICD@sfda.gov.sa, and the response time is 5 working days. To report side effects, medication errors or a quality defect in a medicine, use the Tayaqqad service at ade.sfda.gov.sa or email npc.drug@sfda.gov.sa.

Steps

  1. For a general report or question: call 19999, the SFDA unified contact centre, from 7:30 am to 3:30 pm, or email ICD@sfda.gov.sa.
  2. Or use the “Contact” form on the SFDA website: name, email, mobile number and subject, then write how the Authority can help. The stated response time is 5 working days.
  3. For side effects, medication errors and quality defects in pharmaceutical products: report on the Tayaqqad service at ade.sfda.gov.sa, by email to npc.drug@sfda.gov.sa, or on 19999. The SFDA's National Pharmacovigilance Center handles the report.
  4. Tayaqqad also accepts reports of side effects from cosmetics, food poisoning cases, and defects in medical devices and supplies.
  5. The pharmaceutical products whose side effects you can report include medicines, vaccines, herbal products and health supplements.
  6. Reports to the National Pharmacovigilance Center are handled in full confidence, including the identity of the patient and of the person reporting, and a report creates no obligations or legal consequences.
  7. If your problem is with a shop over a sale, warranty or return rather than product safety, the body is the Ministry of Commerce; the steps are on the Dalni page “Commercial complaint”. If your complaint is about a hospital or health centre, read the page “MOH number 937”.
  8. If you or someone else has severe symptoms after a medicine or food, get medical care first, then file the report.
