Prepared from the official page
File it for free with the “Complaint against an insurance company” service on the Insurance Authority website, or call toll-free 8001240551. The Authority takes insurance complaints, including health and motor insurance.
Steps
- If you already complained to the insurance company, keep the complaint number; the Authority's form asks for it.
- Open the service page on the Insurance Authority website, press “Get Started”, then sign in on the official site or create a new account.
- Press “Continue”, choose “Submit a Complaint”, then enter the insurance sector details.
- Say whether the complaint is for you or on behalf of someone else, then write the complaint details.
- Upload papers that support your complaint, if you have any, and check your data well, because mistakes can delay or cancel the complaint. Then press “Submit”.
- For a car accident claim under compulsory motor insurance: the company must tell you within 5 working days of getting the papers whether it accepts or refuses the claim, and settle it within 15 working days for individuals.
- If the company refuses all or part of your claim, it must give you the reasons, and give you copies of the papers behind its decision if you ask.
- Note: some complaints may be outside the Authority's remit, so read the guidance on the service page before you start.
Have ready:
- Your complaint number with the insurer, if you complained to it
- Details of the insurance sector you are complaining about
- A clear description of the problem
- Papers that support your complaint (if any)
