The Najm unified number is 199033, a free line for reporting traffic accidents 24/7; you can also report through the Najm app or website. You must be at the accident scene with all parties, and they must have valid insurance. After the accident, you file and track your Najm claim through the Claims service in the Najm app or website.
Steps
- Stop in a safe place and make sure the parties to the accident have valid insurance from a licensed insurer. If the accident was caused by a natural disaster or fire, comprehensive cover is required to report it to Najm.
- Report to Najm 24/7: call 199033, or use the Najm app or website. You cannot report remotely: you must be at the accident scene to set the location and photograph the papers and the damage, and all parties must be present.
- At the scene, Najm asks for the official documents: ID, driving licence and vehicle registration (istimara). The Najm investigator records the accident with a body camera, and Najm charges the parties nothing.
- Najm does not handle the accident if there are injuries or deaths, if it is a criminal case, if a party is absent or fled, if not all parties have valid insurance, or if it happened outside the areas Najm covers. Then call: Unified Operations 911, Traffic Accidents 993, Civil Defence 998, Road Security 996, Ambulance 997.
- If you have no valid insurance but the other party does, the Najm investigator handles the accident. If neither party has valid insurance, call the Traffic Department on 993.
- After the accident: read the accident report in the Najm app or website; it tells you which insurance company to file the claim with.
- To file a Najm claim: sign in to the Najm app or website and choose the Claims service to file the insurance claim and track its status. You can file it at any time, but its time limit is set by the terms of the unified insurance policy, so check it with the insurer.
- If you have a problem filing the claim on the website: check that the data is correct and refresh the page or app; if it continues, use the Virtual Visit on the Najm website, Sunday to Thursday, 9 am to 4 pm.
- Traffic accident damage estimates: to book a vehicle estimate or get its result, Najm refers you to the Taqdeer team on 920000460. Najm also offers NRN, a free service that covers moving the vehicle, estimating the damage, filing the claim and repairing it, with a guarantee on the repair quality.
- To object to the share of liability, to adding or removing damage, or to adding a party: file the objection through the Accidents service in Najm within 10 days of the accident date. After that, an exception request is made through the Virtual Visit if you have a proven excuse; otherwise the objection goes to the traffic court.
- Insurer time limits in the Unified Compulsory Motor Insurance Policy: it acknowledges the claim and tells you of any missing documents within 3 working days for individuals, accepts or denies the claim within 5 working days of receiving the documents, and settles it within 15 working days for individuals once it is complete. If it denies the claim, it must give you the reasons.
- If the insurer delays or refuses your claim without a convincing reason, complain to the Insurance Authority; Dalni has the steps on the page "How do I complain about an insurance company to the Insurance Authority?". To see what your cover includes, read "What does third-party car insurance cover?".
Have ready:
- The official documents Najm asks for at the scene: ID, driving licence and vehicle registration, shown only to the Najm investigator or in its official app
- Your phone with the Najm app, to set the location and photograph the papers and damage
- The Najm accident report, which names the insurer you file the claim with
- If you repaired the car before claiming: the actual repair bills and a damage assessment report from an authorised entity, made after the accident and before the repair
- Your IBAN, typed only in the insurer's own system, because the compensation may be transferred to it
