Prepared from the official page
The Banking Disputes Committee decides banking disputes between banks and their customers. You file the case online on the website of the General Secretariat of the Committees for Banking and Financial Disputes and Violations, with the unified form for your type of dispute and your papers.
Steps
- Complain to your bank first and keep the date. The unified case form asks for the date you complained to the financial institution.
- Before filing, the General Secretariat site recommends trying its Conciliation Centre to settle the dispute amicably, and you can still file the case later if conciliation fails. The site also says judicial costs may be imposed on a case, estimated by the competent committee when it hears the case.
- Open the e-services page of the Banking Disputes and Violations Committees on the General Secretariat website, and choose your type of dispute: ATM, personal finance, account freeze, credit cards, or current account.
- If the dispute is about a real estate finance or finance lease contract, the competent committee is the Committee for Resolution of Finance Violations and Disputes, not the Banking Disputes Committee, even if the contract is with a bank.
- Download the unified form for your type of dispute and fill it in completely on a device, not by hand. The request is not accepted if the form or papers are incomplete.
- Choose Create Case, sign in on the official site through the National Single Sign-On (Nafath), fill in the details and attach the form and papers.
- The General Secretariat studies the request. If the case is accepted you get a text message, and if papers are missing you get a message to complete them within a set time.
- After the case is registered, the bank has 8 working days to reply, then you have 8 working days to comment, then the bank has 8 working days for a final comment. Then the case is studied and a hearing date is set.
- The hearing is set to be held remotely. Follow your case with the Case Inquiry service, or contact the General Secretariat on its unified number 8006120000.
- When the decision is ready you get a text message, and you receive a copy of it on the online portal.
- The site says the decision becomes final and enforceable unless one party asks to appeal it within 30 days of receiving the copy or of the decision being ready, whichever comes first.
Have ready:
- The unified form for your type of dispute, filled in completely
- The papers the form asks for, such as an account statement for ATM disputes
- The date of your complaint to the bank
- A power of attorney, if someone files the case for you
